Projects

We have received funding from the Ministry of Health, Pacific Provider & Workforce Development Fund, for the following projects for 2010-2011 year:

  • Healthcare Heroes

Healthcare Heroes 2010Healthcare Heroes is a programme that will be delivered in 21 high schools across Auckland. The programme will provide students with a menu of options, in terms of what they could choose to pursue as a career in health (i.e. Dentist, Physiotherapy, Midwife etc). PMA will then help to strengthen abilities in science in order to gain access to these options at tertiary level.

This help will be provided by mentor’s who will assist participants to prepare academically for study in a health related qualification. It will also open opportunities to gain scholarships, work experience (for year 12 and 13 students) and training in first aid.

Healthcare Heroes is proudly sponsored by Hubbards, 2010For more information about Healthcare Heroes, contact:

  • Students are our Future

Students are our Future 2010Students are our Future is a programme aimed at pacific tertiary students studying towards a degree in health.
The objective is to ‘improve the completion rates for students in health science through supporting students in reaching their goals’
This programme will be  delivered nationally, covering Auckland right through to Christchurch, and will cater for 220 students that will receive mentoring from a current health professional. It will provide pastoral care, a development of a sustaining network of professional colleagues, and an understanding of the formal (and informal/implicit) values, rules and operating procedures in health sciences.
