Mentor Eligibility Criteria

Mentors must meet the following eligibility criteria in order to be accredited as a mentor in the programme. 

The Criterion includes the following:

  • Complete application process
  • Complete Police Screening process
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in a health related field
  • Currently work as a Clinician, Practitioner or Manager
  • Have extensive experience in their specialty area
  • Attend 2 mentoring training sessions per year
  • Commit to an academic year of mentoring
  • Come to an agreement with mentee on:
Schedule of contact and meetings
Maintain confidentiality
Honor ground rules you and your mentee have agreed on
Provide regular feedback to each other and evaluate progress
Look for multiple opportunities and experiences to enhance the mentee's learning
  • Agree to meet with your mentee until you accomplish your predefined goals or for a maximum of two years
  • Will adhere to mentoring policies and procedures
  • Will communicate regularly with the Programme Director and submit quarterly meeting and activity information
  • Have a clean criminal history
  • Not be a user of illicit drugs.  Not currently in treatment for substance abuse and have a non-addictive period of at least five years.  Not use alcohol or controlled substances in an excessive or inappropriate manner
  • Not have falsified information during the course of the screening process
